The Missing Link
Google+ notification emails were nothing short of a formal announcement that somebody in your circle mentioned you on a post, commented on your post, or shared something to you. Once you receive them in your inbox, all you were able to do was read the update – nothing more, nothing less. And if you ever wanted to interact with the post, you've got to log in to your Google+ account. It's bland and pretty useless. There's that missing link that holds you from getting more social and interactive on Google+.

- Zappos, a company that sells shoes, has used Twitter in order to connect with their customers. Using the Twitter account, employees chat with customers about products. This is a great example of a company using social media to connect with their customers while increasing sales and developing customer loyalty.
- Dell uses various social media platforms to connect with their customers. Dell claims that by using Twitter, it has increased its sales dramatically. Dell also sponsors an island in Second Life, a virtual community.
